About Bundobust

A match made in the DMs

Bundobust was born out of a collaboration between two Bradford boys, Mayur Patel and Marko Husak.

Mayur was a chef in his family restaurant – the legendary Prashad – and Marko ran one of the North’s first Craft Beer bars, The Sparrow.

Once they got wind of each other, a couple of messages were exchanged, and the rest was history…

Beer and curry - together at last

Ok maybe it had been done before – but not like this…

Combining their expertise through a series of pop-up events, Mayur and Marko spotted a demand for a modern update to the classic “beer and a curry” archetype.

A few supper clubs (remember them?) helped lay out the Bundo DNA

Fresh, flavour-packed dishes that you couldn’t find in high-street curry houses, and boundary-pushing beers all served in a laid-back, bar environment.

Bundo is Born

After a season of pop-ups at beer, food, and music festivals Mayur & Marko set their sights on Mill Hill, an overlooked street at the bottom of Leeds City Centre and recruited a couple of chefs from Prashad – Maity and Gopi who are still with us today!

In Summer 2014 right at the crest of a new food wave in Leeds, Bundobust opened – introducing a new generation of food obsessives to Okra Fries, Chaat, Vada Pav, and more.

Bundobust Manchester Piccadilly following in 2016 – a review from Jay Rayner sealed our fate, and that was that – Bundobust Liverpool followed in 2019, and Bundobust Brewery launching in 2021.

Too Much Spicy

Critically acclaimed! A “Game changer”! We’ve been called all sorts in the 10 years since then!

In 2024 alone we picked up national awards like ‘Best Innovation’ at The Casual Dining Awards ‘UK’s Best Taproom’ at the SIBA Awards, as well as representing Yorkshire on Rick Stein’s Food Stories on the telly – all while trying to be a positive force for independent hospitality.
